Massa & Associates, Inc. is a firm that provides actuarial, administrative and consulting services for all types of qualified retirement plans. We also provide services for nonqualified retirement plans and FAS 106 valuations for postretirement health benefits.

We provide services for defined benefit and defined contribution plans using our in-house systems. This means that we can customize our actuarial reports, benefit statements and election forms to suit the needs of our clients.

We can perform qualification testing of defined contribution plans efficiently. Our systems are suitable for testing plans of any size and contribution schedules of any type.

We are supported by an ERISA law firm and other pension administration firms that have offices here. We also benefit from relationships with a variety of other professionals in this area including lawyers, accountants, insurance agents, and investment professionals. This enables us to provide consulting and legal advice in a broad range of situations and to call on other qualified professionals as the need arises.

Our emphasis is on quality services. We do not sell products or try to fit our clients into any prototype plan or administrative system. Our services and systems are designed to conform to our clients' plans.

We have years of experience working with auditing firms. We have expertise in selecting the appropriate interest discount assumptions for FAS 158 valuations and in providing documentation and demonstrations required for audits of company and plan financial statements.

Biographies

Michael Massa

Michael Massa founded Massa & Associates, Inc. 27 years ago and has been its only owner since that time.

He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He earned a degree in mathematics from Cornell University.

Michael Massa has been providing actuarial services for large institutions for over 20 years. He performs all valuations of defined benefit plans and FAS106 valuations for retiree health benefits.

Rena Sokolow

Rena Sokolow has been an employee of Massa & Associates, Inc. for 15 years. She has been performing all aspects of administration for defined benefit plans and defined contribution plans. She performs benefit calculations and prepares election forms for hundreds of participants each year. She is also responsible for communications with participants.
